Baked Fish Au Gratin

I have not baked anything before, however I felt pretty adventurous so decided to try something easy...

Chop up 3 cloves of garlic and 1 midium sized red onion.

Fry the garlic and onion until it is fragrant, then pour in half a cup of milk. Stir until it starts to simmer then add in a small slice of butter and some corn flour to thicken the sauce.

While the sauce is simmering, cut the fish like so...

Place the fish into a container, pour the sauce into the container and cover it with cheese.

Place the container into the over for roughly 20 mins...

I left it in the oven a bit too long...but I do have to admit the burnt cheese tasted niceee !!..

Serve with pasta...awesome...

Hi. Liang, want to try ikan bakar without using charcoal stove. We did it the other day using the oven toaster. Season and marinate the fish with whatever flavour you fancy. Instead of wrapping the fish in foil as we normally do. We place the fish on a piece of banana leaf and place them on the toaster pan. Turn on high heat. When the eye of the fish has popped out, turn the fish over to the other side. Use a fork to poke the centre of the fish to check whether it is done or not. If the flesh can be separated, it is done. Wala, sedap sungguh.
